Black Bear has secured the domestic distribution rights to the romantic comedy “Honeymoon / Funeral.” The film stars Rebecca Ferguson, Greta Lee and Carrie Coon and is directed by Nahnatchka Khan.
Described as a gay rom‑com, the story follows two women—played by Ferguson and Lee—who meet and navigate the complexities of love and commitment. Carrie Coon appears in a supporting role.
Production on the picture concluded in September, after which the project was presented at the newly created market segment of the Toronto International Film Festival. FilmNation initially shopped the film at the Toronto: The Market event.
The acquisition places “Honeymoon / Funeral” among a limited slate of titles that were successfully marketed at the new TIFF market, which also included Josh Giuliano’s horror film “River” and another project referenced as “the Michelle …” in market listings.
Black Bear will handle the film’s release within the United States, though further distribution details have not been announced.
