Katie Zacharia picked as White House press secretary - Reuters

President Donald Trump has selected Katie Zacharia for the role of White House press secretary. The announcement follows the vacancy created when former press secretary Karoline Leavitt departed in August.

Zacharia is a conservative commentator who currently serves as a senior communications adviser at Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of the former president’s media enterprises.

The position of press secretary has remained unfilled since Leavitt’s exit, prompting a search for a new spokesperson for the administration.

Reports differ on the status of Zacharia’s appointment: one account states she has been picked for the job, while other accounts describe the role as having been offered to her, noting that it is not yet clear whether she has formally accepted.

No official statement from the White House has been released to confirm her acceptance of the position or to provide a timeline for when she might assume the duties of press secretary.
