Ducklings walk on track at Bathurst
A red flag is waved for a family of ducks that have to be escorted off Conrod Straight at Mount Panorama.
First reported 1 hour ago · latest update 1 hour agoA family of ducklings was observed walking along the racing surface of Conrod Straight at the Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst. The birds entered the track during a period of activity, prompting officials to intervene for safety reasons.
Race officials responded by displaying a red flag, the standard signal used to halt racing activities when an obstruction or hazard is present on the circuit. The red flag indicated that all drivers were required to slow down and proceed to the pit lane or a designated safe area.
A team of marshals and wildlife handlers was dispatched to the location to guide the ducks off the track. The animals were safely escorted away from the racing surface and returned to a nearby area away from the circuit.
The incident caused a temporary interruption to the event schedule, after which normal racing operations resumed once the track was cleared and deemed safe for competition. No injuries to personnel or damage to the track were reported.
