‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ Season 2 to Premiere March 2027, Bill Nighy and Rosemarie DeWitt to Guest Star

Paramount+ confirmed that the second season of “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” is scheduled to premiere in March 2027. The announcement was made during a Star Trek panel at New York Comic‑Con on Saturday, where executives also fielded questions about the series’ upcoming storyline and production timeline.

The season will feature two high‑profile guest stars. Bill Nighy has been cast as Nyk Ake, the estranged father of the character Nahla, who is portrayed by Holly Hunter. Rosemarie DeWitt will appear as Laytha Sadal, the mother of Tarima (played by Zoë Steiner) and the First Lady within the series’ narrative.

Details of the casting were revealed alongside a broader discussion that included a conversation with William Shatner and Ben Stiller, both of whom participated in the Paramount+ panel at the convention. The panel highlighted the series’ continued expansion of its ensemble cast and its focus on new character dynamics for the upcoming season.

The new season will continue to be produced for the streaming service Paramount+, maintaining the platform’s commitment to original “Star Trek” content. Production schedules and additional casting details have not been disclosed beyond the confirmed guest appearances.

Photographs released with the announcement show Nighy and DeWitt in costume, confirming their integration into the series’ visual aesthetic. No conflicting reports have emerged regarding the premiere date or the guest‑star roles.
