Fire ants have been found in Sydney

Fire ants have been detected in Sydney following a visual confirmation at a local logistics centre. The insects were identified as the species commonly referred to as “deadly fire ants,” which are known for their painful stings and potential health risks.

The confirmation came from footage captured by a camera mounted on a scope that was monitoring activity within the facility. The recorded images showed multiple fire ants moving across the area, providing clear visual evidence of their presence.

The discovery was made at a logistics centre situated in the Sydney metropolitan area. The site, which handles the storage and distribution of goods, has now become the focus of attention due to the unexpected appearance of the ants.

Authorities have been alerted to the finding, and the presence of the ants is being treated as a matter of concern given their reputation for delivering painful bites and, in some cases, causing allergic reactions. Further investigations are expected to determine the extent of the infestation and any necessary control measures.
