Olivia Rodrigo Announces “Expectations” Remix With Chappell Roan

Olivia Rodrigo has released a new version of her single “Expectations,” featuring singer‑songwriter Chappell Roan. The collaboration was announced earlier this month and the remix, accompanied by a music video, is now available on major streaming platforms.

The remix reimagines the original track with a retro‑game‑show aesthetic, incorporating synth‑driven production and vocal exchanges that highlight both artists’ distinct styles. The accompanying video adopts a colorful, arcade‑inspired visual theme, aligning with the song’s updated arrangement.

Rodrigo and Roan’s partnership marks their first joint recording. Rodrigo, who rose to prominence with her debut album “Sour,” has previously explored pop‑rock and introspective lyricism, while Roan is known for her genre‑blending pop and indie sensibilities. Both artists have been noted in recent Grammy season discussions, with analysts highlighting the potential for multiple nominations among the two Olivias.

In addition to the remix, Chappell Roan is slated to appear in a series of benefit concerts that feature a lineup including Lola Young, Muna and Tinashe. Those shows are described as “Super Graphic Spectacular” events aimed at supporting charitable causes, though they are separate from the “Expectations” release.

The release has been promoted through social media teasers and a brief interview in which Rodrigo described the collaboration as an opportunity to experiment with a “retro game‑show” vibe while showcasing Roan’s vocal range. The remix is expected to contribute to both artists’ upcoming touring schedules and promotional activities.
