Police search for gunmen following Melbourne road rage incident

Two suspected gunmen are on the run after a road-rage incident descended into a drive-by shooting near a kindergarten in Melbourne’s north-west.

Police were called to Dawson Street in Tullamarine about 3.15pm following reports of gunshots after two vehicles collided.

The incident was sparked by an earlier road-rage incident on a nearby street, police said. Multiple gunshots were later heard by witnesses near Dawson Street Preschool.

Two suspected offenders in a white Hyundai fled the scene after it was dumped on a nature strip near the preschool.

Images show the P-plated vehicle crashed into a tree, with three bullet holes in the windshield and the front badly damaged.

Two victims, who were travelling in an Isuzu utility vehicle, later reported the incident at Broadmeadows Police Station.

No one was injured.

Less than 24 hours before the incident, another drive-by shooting was reported at a house in Caroline Springs.

Four people were inside a property in Flinders Place when several shots were fired from a vehicle about 12.45pm.

No physical injuries were reported.

The alleged offenders drove off in a silver car that was later found burnt out in Deer Park, according to police.

Anyone with information, dashcam footage or who may have witnessed the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au.
