Chase Infiniti’s ‘The Julia Set’ Acquired by Sony Pictures Classics For U.S., International Territories

Sony Pictures Classics has secured the United States and key international territory rights to the student drama The Julia Set, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. The acquisition follows the film’s world debut at the festival, where it was highlighted as one of the event’s notable breakouts.

The Julia Set is the feature‑length directorial debut of writer‑director Niki Byrne. The story follows a young mathematics prodigy navigating personal and academic challenges, positioning the film as a contemporary drama centered on youthful ambition and intellectual pursuit.

The cast includes Emmy‑nominated actor Chase Infiniti in the lead role, alongside veteran performers Jason Isaacs and Gillian Anderson. Infiniti’s involvement follows his recent appearances in the multi‑Oscar‑winning One Battle After Another and The Testaments.

Chase Infiniti, recognized for his performances in One Battle After Another and The Testaments, brings a commanding presence to the film, which has drawn attention for its strong ensemble. Isaacs and Anderson add further depth to the narrative with their supporting roles.

Critical response to The Julia Set has been positive, with the film holding a 70 percent fresh rating on aggregate review sites. Reviewers have praised Infiniti’s performance and Byrne’s direction, contributing to the film’s favorable reception at TIFF and its subsequent acquisition by Sony Pictures Classics.
