Reform UK receives £4 million donation from crypto entrepreneur Ben Delo

Reform UK has received an additional £4 million donation from British cryptocurrency entrepreneur Ben Delo. This latest contribution follows a previous £4 million donation made by the businessman to the party in January. According to reports covering the most recent quarter, these funds account for approximately 75% of the total donations received by the party during that period.

Ben Delo, who was previously based in Hong Kong, was convicted in the United States in 2022. The conviction stemmed from his failure to implement adequate anti-money laundering controls within his cryptocurrency business. Following his conviction, Delo received a pardon from former U.S. President Donald Trump.

The party has addressed concerns regarding the legality of the donation in light of new regulations concerning overseas funding. Reform UK officials have stated they are confident that the donation will not be affected by the recently implemented cap on overseas donors.

As the party’s second-largest donor, Delo’s financial involvement has drawn attention to the party's funding structure. While the party maintains its stance on the validity of the contribution, the scale of the donation relative to the party's overall quarterly intake highlights the significant role individual donors play in its current financial operations.
