Two detained in Mumbai for posing as PMO official and bodyguard

The BKC police detained a Kalyan resident for allegedly posing as a Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) official during a security check at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). Heightened security was in place there ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit.

The suspect was also carrying a licensed pistol. According to the police, the suspect arrived in BKC on Monday evening with another man from Khar, who was accompanying him as his bodyguard. During the security check, the bodyguard allegedly claimed to be a PMO official. Given the sensitive nature of the area and the heightened security arrangements, the police conducted a detailed inquiry.

During the inquiry, the police recorded the statement of the Khar resident and subsequently released him. The person working as the suspect’s bodyguard, however, was detained for further questioning. Following the investigation, the BKC police registered a case against him for allegedly impersonating a PMO official, said a police officer.

Police are also verifying the circumstances under which he allegedly attempted to pass himself off as a PMO official and entered the high-security area. This is a developing story. Please refresh periodically for more updates.
