Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it launched ballistic missiles at a military installation in Jordan that is used by United States forces. The missiles were fired on Wednesday, marking a direct strike against a U.S. facility in the region.

In the same operation, the Revolutionary Guard reported attacks on ten commercial vessels operating near the Strait of Hormuz. The attacks were said to have taken place shortly after the United States announced that it had destroyed five Iranian oil tankers in the preceding days.

The Iranian statements linked the missile and maritime attacks to the U.S. claim of having eliminated the five tankers, describing the actions as a response to what it termed an aggressive American move.
