Person killed after being hit by a car in Pune; separate reports of a child death in Sydney

A software engineer has died after being struck by a speeding vehicle while jogging in Pune. The victim, identified as Virendra Dwivedi, was running along the Pashan-Bavdhan Road when the collision occurred.

Following the impact, the victim was transported to a nearby hospital in the same vehicle involved in the accident. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was unable to be saved and was pronounced dead.

Police have confirmed that the vehicle involved in the incident is registered to a private company based in Pune. Authorities are currently working to identify the driver and determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.

To assist in the investigation, officials are reviewing CCTV footage captured at the scene and along surrounding roads. This evidence is expected to help determine the speed of the vehicle and the exact cause of the accident.

As part of the ongoing probe, police intend to question representatives from the company under whose name the car is registered. This process aims to establish the identity of the driver and clarify the responsibility for the incident.
