Romania sets Guinness World Record with 5-kilometer-long table

Tens of thousands of people gathered in Bucharest, Romania, on Saturday to participate in a record-breaking event aimed at supporting pediatric healthcare. Participants filled a 5,055-meter, or 3.1-mile, structure known as the "Uniting Table," which stretched from Unirii Boulevard to Constitution Square, located in front of the city's Palace of Parliament.

The event was organized by the Bloom The World Association and resulted in an official Guinness World Record for the longest table constructed from recycled materials. A senior adjudicator and official judge from Guinness World Records attended the gathering to present the organization with a certificate, noting the significance of using a record-breaking achievement to foster a common cause.

Approximately 20,000 people attended the event, occupying the various sections of the table, which were decorated with flowers and snacks. The gathering served as a fundraiser for the construction of a new pediatric psychiatry facility.

The planned facility is set to be located within the Obregia Hospital complex in Bucharest and will span 3,900 square meters. Organizers stated that the project is intended to become the country's first hospital dedicated to pediatric psychiatry.

Funding for the new medical facility is being sourced through private donations and corporate sponsorships. While the project is currently underway, the estimated total cost for the development remains a focus of the ongoing fundraising efforts initiated by the event.
