Russian drone strikes near Ukrainian-Polish border

A Russian drone strike occurred overnight in the vicinity of the Ukrainian-Polish border near the town of Yahodyn. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha initially stated that the strike hit the border crossing itself, but later issued a correction to clarify that the impact occurred near the site.

Polish border guard officials confirmed that the strike took place approximately 800 meters from the Polish border. Due to the proximity of the incident, the Yahodyn border crossing was temporarily closed while the situation was addressed.

In a separate incident, Ukrainian Railways reported that a drone attacked the locomotive of a passenger train in the Volyn region. This strike occurred roughly two kilometers from the Polish border. The rail operator confirmed that no injuries were sustained by passengers or crew during the attack.

Ukrainian officials have characterized these strikes as a significant escalation, noting that the border region serves as a vital corridor for the delivery of military and humanitarian aid from international allies. The Foreign Minister described the proximity of the strikes to the European Union and NATO borders as a deliberate act of intimidation.

The border crossings between Ukraine and Poland remain critical infrastructure for the country’s logistics and defense efforts. Authorities continue to monitor the area following these overnight strikes, which represent the latest in a series of attacks targeting Ukrainian border zones.
