WA's Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) confirmed a report of a "shark incident" at Glenfield Beach, north of Geraldton about 430 kilometres north of Perth.
DPIRD said the incident was reported about 9:45am on Monday, and fisheries officials were working with local authorities to respond.
St John Ambulance confirmed one man, aged in his 50s, has been taken to Geraldton Hospital under priority one conditions.
A spokesperson said two ambulances were dispatched to the beach about 9:50am.
