Trump claims Russia and Ukraine have agreed not to target each other's energy infrastructure
Multiple outlets report that former President Donald Trump said Russia and Ukraine reached an agreement to refrain from hitting each other's energy assets. Ukrainian and Russian officials have not confirmed the claim, and some reports note Trump’s earlier criticism of Kyiv for striking Russian refineries.

President Donald Trump announced on Monday that Ukraine and Russia have reached an agreement to cease targeting each other’s energy infrastructure. In a post on his Truth Social network, the president stated that both nations had committed to the arrangement, asserting that the ongoing conflict has been a primary driver of rising global diesel prices.
The president’s claim followed public remarks made during a visit to Ireland on Sunday, where he urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to refrain from striking Russian diesel fuel facilities. During those comments, he argued that such attacks were contributing to fuel shortages and impacting American costs.
Following the president's announcement, the Ukrainian presidency declined to provide an official comment. While Moscow reportedly welcomed the president's initial remarks regarding the fuel strikes, there has been no immediate formal reaction from the Russian government confirming the existence of a mutual agreement.
The assertion of a truce appears to conflict with the established position of the Ukrainian government. Ukraine has consistently maintained that Russian energy sites are legitimate military targets, arguing that the revenue generated from these facilities is used by Moscow to finance its ongoing military operations.
Just last week, President Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine had struck two Russian oil refineries, explicitly stating that the strikes were intended to disrupt the resources used to fund the war effort. As of now, the White House has not responded to requests for comment regarding the status of these claims or the potential for a formal agreement between the two warring parties.
