Ben Platt and Russell Tovey join final season of 'Industry'

Ben Platt and Russell Tovey have been added to the cast of the upcoming fifth and final season of the HBO/BBC drama Industry, which is currently in production. Their involvement was confirmed alongside a slate of other new and returning performers as the series prepares to conclude its run.

Platt will appear as Matt Crenshaw, described as a venture capitalist and early backer of a wellness‑tech company that becomes central to the new storyline. The actor is known for his Tony‑winning performance in Dear Evan Hansen, Broadway work such as The Book of Mormon, and television roles in The Politician and The Beauty, as well as film appearances in the screen adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen and the first two Pitch Perfect movies.

Tovey joins the series as Declan P. Davis, the deputy to left‑wing politician Nikesh Shah, a role portrayed by Bally Gill. Tovey’s résumé includes the HBO series Looking, the BBC drama Years and Years, and television work on Being Human, Quantico, and Doctor Who, along with film credits in Plainclothes and The History Boys.

The new additions complement previously announced cast members for season 5, including Cary Elwes as an investor, Dianna Agron as Skip Binksy, CFO of the wellness‑tech firm, Zosia Mamet as fitness influencer‑turned‑founder Carmen Dame, Sam Riley as an elusive British businessman, Jessica Brown Findlay as a family friend of Sir Henry Muck, Luke Manley as an execution trader, and Eduard Poliakov as another trader. Returning leads such as Myha’la, Marisa Abela, Kit Harington, Ken Leung and Max Minghella will continue their arcs, with season 4 having followed Harper and Yasmin as they became entangled in a high‑stakes fintech rivalry and personal relationships with tech founder Sir Henry Muck.

Season 5 will serve as the series’ concluding chapter, bringing together the expanded ensemble to explore the evolving dynamics of the finance world and the personal ambitions of its characters as the show wraps up its narrative.
