Apple TV+ Renews 'Slow Horses' for Season 8

Apple TV has confirmed that the spy‑thriller series “Slow Horses” will return for an eighth season. The new installment will consist of six episodes and is slated to premiere on the streaming service on a Wednesday later this year.

Season 8 adapts “Clown Town,” the ninth novel in Mick Herron’s “Slough House” series. According to the series synopsis, the storyline pits Jackson Lamb against Diana Taverner in a heightened conflict after a failed blackmail attempt on the Park forces Taverner onto the offensive, prompting Lamb to investigate a deep‑seated MI5 secret.

Gary Oldman will reprise his role as the abrasive yet charismatic Jackson Lamb, and Kristin Scott Thomas returns as Diana Taverner. Oldman, who received an Emmy nomination for lead actor in a drama series for his work on the show, continues to lead the ensemble of “lovable misfits” that populate the series.

The eighth season is produced by See‑Saw Films, with a roster of executive producers that includes Gary Oldman, Mick Herron, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Douglas Urbanski, Adam Randall, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Gail Mutrux and Billy Bowring.

Jay Hunt, Apple TV’s creative director of international, said the series “continues to charm audiences all around the world” and expressed enthusiasm for the return of the main characters, noting the show’s “acerbic take on the high‑octane world of espionage.” The announcement follows a renewal for season 7 that was made last year.

Apple TV’s investment in “Slow Horses” coincides with a broader sweep of Emmy recognition for the platform, including a win for outstanding directing in a drama series and additional nominations across its programming slate. The network highlighted the success as part of an “unpredictable” but strong performance at the awards ceremony.
