A Paris court has awarded Kim Kardashian a symbolic €1 in damages following the conclusion of a civil case related to the 2016 armed robbery at a hotel in the French capital. The reality television star had specifically requested this nominal amount from the individuals convicted in connection with the heist, which occurred while she was in the city for Fashion Week.

The incident involved a group of robbers, often referred to in France as the "Grandpa Robbers" due to their advanced ages, who wore ski masks and disguised themselves as police officers to gain access to the hotel. During the robbery, Kardashian was tied up at gunpoint, an experience she later described as the most terrifying of her life. The stolen items included jewelry valued at millions of dollars, most notably a $4 million engagement ring given to her by her then-husband, Kanye West. Most of the stolen property was never recovered.

In May 2025, eight individuals were convicted for their roles in the robbery. During court proceedings, Kardashian addressed Aomar Ait Khedache, identified as the mastermind of the operation, stating that she forgave him while emphasizing that the gesture did not diminish the trauma caused by the event. Khedache was sentenced to three years in prison.

In a joint statement released following the court's decision, Kardashian and her stylist, Simone Harouche, expressed gratitude to the French justice system. They noted that the legal outcome was not about financial compensation, but rather about accountability and recognition. The pair stated that the experience had been deeply traumatic and that they hope the conclusion of the case will allow them to move forward and continue their healing process.

The court also addressed a claim from a former receptionist at the Hotel de Pourtales, who was present during the 2016 robbery and also suffered trauma from the event. While the receptionist had sought €550,000 in damages, the court awarded him approximately €110,000. His legal counsel characterized the decision as a victory for his client.
