Meta plans camera-free smart glasses for fall launch, The Information reports - Reuters

Meta is preparing to launch a new pair of smart glasses, internally code‑named Luna, that will not include a camera. The move comes amid heightened scrutiny of wearable devices that can record video and images.

The Luna glasses will feature six built‑in microphones, enabling users to interact with Meta’s AI chatbot as well as Muse, the company’s newly introduced consumer AI agent. A dedicated side button is designed to provide quick activation of Meta AI, and the devices will incorporate speakers comparable to those found in Meta’s current smart‑glass models.

The company may reveal the product at its annual Connect developer conference, scheduled for September 23 and 24. Following the announcement, Meta aims to begin shipping the glasses in October.

Meta has not responded to requests for comment on the upcoming launch or the specifications of the Luna glasses.
