Woman charged after newborn found dead in Sydney bin
A 24-year-old woman has been charged by New South Wales police following the discovery of a deceased infant in a Sydney rubbish bin. Authorities have identified the woman as the mother of the child and charged her with concealing the birth.

A woman believed to be the mother of a baby found in a Sydney bin last month has been charged.
Emergency services were called to Harrow Road, Auburn, at 11:20am on August 31 after reports a baby's body was discovered in a garbage bin of a unit block.
In a statement on Thursday, NSW Police said a 24-year-old woman "believed to be the mother of the infant" was located and taken to hospital for assessment.
"Upon release from hospital, the woman was arrested and taken to Auburn Police Station," it read.
She was charged with mother alone conceal birth by disposing body.
She has been granted conditional bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday October 27, 2026.
Acting Superintendent of the Auburn Police Area Command Darren Sly told reporters at the time the unclothed baby boy's body was found in a plastic bag.
He said the body may have been there for up to 36 hours and it was not known whether the infant had been born alive.
"It's very traumatic for that particular lady who found that baby," Acting Superintendent Sly said.
"It's a newborn baby who now has passed away and of course it's sad and a horrific set of circumstances."
