Prince Harry makes first public appearances since returning to the UK

Prince Harry made his first public appearance in London on September 17, marking his return to the United Kingdom three weeks after arriving from the United States with his family. The Duke of Sussex, who moved to California six years ago with his wife, Meghan, attended a fundraising event dedicated to the Invictus Games, an organization he founded to support wounded veterans.

During the engagement, the 42-year-old prince wore a smoking jacket decorated with his military honors and spent time interacting with injured former soldiers, including taking selfies with attendees. Meghan did not accompany him to the event. The couple, along with their two children, arrived in Britain on August 26 and have maintained a low profile since their return.

The arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has generated significant public and media speculation regarding their motivations, particularly given the well-documented tensions between Harry and the royal family. These strained relations were further highlighted following the publication of Harry’s memoir, "Spare."

The prince’s appearance coincided with a period of renewed scrutiny regarding the royal family, triggered by the release of a memoir by Charles Spencer, the brother of the late Princess Diana. In excerpts serialized in the press, Spencer alleged that the then-Prince Charles appeared "giddily elated" on the night of Diana’s death in 1996.

In response to these claims, Buckingham Palace issued an unusual rebuttal. The statement noted that King Charles remains mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, addressing the allegations made by his former brother-in-law.
