Kremlin says Russia poses no threat to France, rejects Le Pen and Bardella comments

The Kremlin has formally rejected recent criticism from the leadership of France’s National Rally, asserting that Russia does not pose a threat to France or any other European nation. The response follows a joint statement issued over the weekend by presidential candidate Marine Le Pen and party president Jordan Bardella.

In their statement, Le Pen and Bardella declared that they would not tolerate any foreign power attempting to influence French policy through intimidation, threats, destabilization, or psychological pressure. They specifically identified Russia as a country seeking to dictate national policy, either directly or indirectly.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov addressed the remarks on Monday, stating that Moscow categorically disagrees with the characterization provided by the French political leaders. He emphasized that the Russian government does not accept the criticism leveled against it.

According to the Kremlin, President Vladimir Putin has stated on numerous occasions that Russia maintains no disputes with European states that would necessitate serious disagreements. Peskov further argued that Russia does not engage in blackmail and poses no danger to the security of European countries.

The exchange highlights ongoing tensions regarding the influence of foreign powers in French domestic politics. While the National Rally leadership has sought to distance itself from accusations of foreign interference, the Kremlin maintains that its diplomatic stance remains non-threatening toward the region.
