Russian strikes on Ukrainian industrial sites result in casualties and power outages

Russian forces conducted a series of overnight strikes against industrial sites across Ukraine, resulting in four deaths and multiple injuries. The attacks targeted locations in the southeastern Dnipropetrovsk region, specifically hitting industrial enterprises in the cities of Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and Pavlohrad. Regional officials reported that the strikes caused significant damage to business and warehouse premises in Dnipro, where six people were also injured.

The Ukrainian air force reported that the Russian barrage involved a variety of weaponry, including ballistic missiles, Oniks anti-ship missiles, four cruise missiles, and 212 drones. In addition to the industrial damage in the southeast, a separate attack in the north of the country resulted in power outages for thousands of residents.

The Russian Ministry of Defence confirmed the strikes, stating that its forces targeted industrial and military facilities. According to the ministry, the operations were aimed at Ukraine's fuel and energy sector, as well as port infrastructure and sea vessels utilized by the Ukrainian military.

This escalation in the air war follows a pattern of Russian strikes on economic targets, including logistics hubs, ports, and businesses, as frontline combat remains largely stalled. The ongoing conflict, which began with a full-scale invasion in February 2022, has seen both sides consistently deny that their military operations target civilians.
