Australia's Wallabies to face world champion Springboks

The Springboks are coming off a high following their 3-1 series win over the All Blacks in Rugby's Greatest Rivalry.

Boks coach Rassie Erasmus, though, has opted for a fresh-looking squad, having made 13 changes to the starting XV that triumphed 43-28 in Baltimore a fortnight ago.

Lock Eben Etzebeth and winger Ethan Hooker are the only players to keep their spot in the starting line-up.

Among the wholesale changes is a new front row, with props Jan-Hendrik Wessels and Zachary Porthen packing down either side of hooker Johan Grobbelaar.

Etzebeth and Franco Mostert are the two locks, while Erasmus has put his faith in Paul de Villiers, Elrigh Louw (flankers), and Marco van Staden (number eight) in the back row.

In the backs, there is a new halves pairing, with Herschel Jantjies and Handre Pollard wearing the nine and 10 jerseys respectively.

André Esterhuizen, who becomes the 68th player to captain the Springboks, will feature in the centres alongside Canan Moodie.

Hooker, Edwill van der Merwe, and Aphelele Fassi are the back three.

The bench looks menacing, to say the least.

Malcolm Marx, Ox Nche and Wilco Louw are the replacement front row, while number eight Jasper Wiese — who is set to play his 50th Test — and lock Lood de Jager will also ride the pine.

Morne van den Berg, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu and Quan Horn are the back reserves.

Rested pair Pieter-Steph du Toit and Damian de Allende returned to South Africa after being released from camp.
