Russian attacks kills three in Ukrainian cities, nine injured in Kyiv strikes, officials say - Reuters

Russian forces launched a series of strikes across Ukraine on September 27, resulting in at least eight deaths and numerous injuries. The attacks targeted multiple regions, including Kyiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa, as the country prepares for the upcoming winter season.

In the northern city of Sumy, Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi reported that a strike on a children’s center resulted in three fatalities, including a 16-year-old girl. Meanwhile, in the capital, Kyiv, officials reported that a drone strike killed one man. Mayor Vitalii Klitschko stated that a woman and two 16-year-olds were wounded and hospitalized following the assault on the city.

The Kyiv city administration reported that 16 sites were damaged during the drone attacks, including 12 private houses on the outskirts of the capital, as well as a warehouse and a production facility. Elsewhere, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that three people were killed in night-time strikes in the southern Zaporizhzhia region, and authorities in the Odesa region reported that a massive strike resulted in one additional death.

Damage in the Odesa region was widespread, affecting housing, a shop, a hotel, a medical building, and a warehouse. While reports indicate varying casualty counts across different regions, officials have collectively confirmed at least eight deaths resulting from the day's events.

President Zelensky stated that Russia has deployed approximately 3,900 drones, aerial bombs, and missiles against Ukraine over the past week. Ukrainian officials have characterized these actions as a deliberate effort to target civilian infrastructure as the conflict continues.
