Pope Leo calls for peace concessions in Ukraine war

Pope Leo addressed the ongoing conflict in Ukraine on Monday, calling on negotiators to be prepared to make concessions in order to achieve a lasting peace. Speaking in Metz, France, the pontiff emphasized that a willingness to sacrifice certain positions is essential for any realistic settlement to take shape.

He noted that despite numerous diplomatic initiatives, efforts to end Russia’s war in Ukraine have so far failed to produce a comprehensive cease‑fire or a political resolution.
