Herald on the hunt for the next generation of passionate journalists

The Sydney Morning Herald is seeking talented, curious reporters for a 12-month traineeship program. This is an opportunity to learn the craft of journalism alongside award-winning reporters and editors at the country’s oldest continually published newspaper.

The Herald is known for its courageous, independent and quality journalism. While the paper has been in print for more than 195 years, it is also on the forefront of innovation in online storytelling as digital news evolves.

Sharp, curious individuals with exceptional writing skills, strong news judgement, and a passion for Herald journalism are invited to apply. Applications will be open until just before midnight on Sunday, October 18, and the traineeships will begin in February next year.

The Herald’s editor, Jordan Baker, said the masthead had a proud history of training journalists who go on to become some of the country’s most significant voices.
