Heavy rainfall has led to flooding in Melbourne, with reports of a family becoming trapped under a bridge. Authorities have placed Victoria on flood watch as the wet weather is expected to persist through Friday.

More than 120 calls for help were made to SES on Thursday afternoon as heavy rain swept across Melbourne, mostly in Malvern and Port Phillip.
Two cars were found trapped in floodwaters beneath the York Street bridge in South Melbourne with emergency services arriving on the scene about 3.20pm.
Footage posted to social media showed a large black SUV trying to push through the flash flooding, followed by a second vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.
