New eye‑makeup trend highlights a fresh shade beyond chocolate tones
Beauty writers advise readers on selecting the latest eye‑shadow colour, noting a shift away from traditional chocolate shades toward a new popular hue. No differences are reported between the outlets.
First reported 1 hour ago · latest update 1 hour agoChocolate eyeshadow was everywhere this winter, but with summer on the horizon, it’s time to mix it up and embrace the flattering 50 shades of grey with everything from soft dove to slick dolphin, charcoal and gun-metal. Our favourite shades come in an easy-to-apply creamy finish.
Begin by prepping lids with an eyeshadow primer or a dab of concealer, blended out with a hoof-shaped eyeshadow brush, which is great for working over the mobile lid. Then, apply your grey shadow up to just below the brow line.
To soften the look for day, run a soft-taupe powdered shadow over the top of the grey. For night, build intensity with a soft-charcoal kohl pencil drawn under the lower lashes and as close to the top lashes as possible. Finally, blend to soften the edges. This will create the perfect smoky eye.
For grey-shadow shade selection, blue eyes suit silvery greys; for green and hazel eyes, choose a soft mushroom, and for brown eyes, charcoal is a great contrast. Finish with two coats of black mascara to top and bottom lashes.
