Trump appoints DNI Jay Clayton to lead AI policy task force

The group will be called the "Super Intelligence Force," or SI — the term President Donald Trump prefers over AI.

"The Super Intelligence Force will coordinate the Federal Government's engagement with Consumers, Public Interest Groups, Religious Organizations, Critical Infrastructure Providers, and Super Intelligence Companies," Trump said in a Truth Social post Sunday.

In addition to Clayton, the task force will include: Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson; the Defense Department's Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering and Chief Technology Officer, Emil Michael; and Scott Kupor, director of the Office of Personnel Management. The task force will report to Trump and his chief of staff, Susie Wiles, the president said.

The Wall Street Journal first reported on Clayton's new role Saturday.

In September, Trump said in a Truth Social post that he would create a new "AI Force" to help facilitate the industry and root out bad actors.

"We will not in any way hinder or stifle the Growth of this incredible Industry. Rather, we will cherish it, help it, and watch over it, as it grows!" Trump said the post, which also announced plans to hire an AI czar.

"Only High I.Q. individuals need apply!" the president added.
