Mark Nawaqanitawase Scores Try for Sydney Roosters

The Sydney Roosters have claimed victory in the 2026 NRL Grand Final, defeating the Newcastle Knights in a match defined by high-level football skills and a dramatic finish. The contest remained competitive until the final moments, with the Knights mounting a spirited offensive effort in the dying minutes of the game.

James Tedesco delivered a colossal performance for the Roosters, a contribution that left the captain visibly emotional as the final whistle confirmed the team's premiership win. His leadership and individual play were central to the side's ability to maintain their lead against a persistent Newcastle outfit.

For the Knights, the loss was met with significant disappointment. Following the match, Kalyn Ponga expressed the depth of the team's frustration, stating that the defeat hurt deeply after the side pushed the Roosters until the very end of the contest.

The match was characterized by a series of high-skill plays from the Roosters that ultimately proved the difference between the two sides. Despite the Knights' late-game surge, they were unable to overcome the deficit established by the Roosters' earlier efforts.

The conclusion of the match saw contrasting scenes on the field, with the Roosters celebrating a hard-fought championship while the Knights reflected on a narrow defeat in the season's final game. The result marks the end of the 2026 NRL campaign, with the Roosters securing the title following a high-intensity grand final performance.
