Uber to acquire catering platform ezCater for $2.3 billion

Uber announced that it will acquire ezCater, a United States‑based catering platform, in a transaction valued at approximately $2.3 billion. The deal will be executed as an all‑cash purchase, with Uber paying the agreed price to ezCater’s shareholders.

ezCater operates an online marketplace that connects businesses and organizations with catering providers for events, meetings and other group meals. The company reports serving millions of orders annually and has built a network of thousands of restaurant partners across the country.

The acquisition is intended to broaden Uber’s food‑delivery offering, particularly within its Uber Eats division, by adding a dedicated catering service to its portfolio. Uber aims to leverage ezCater’s technology and relationships to expand corporate and large‑group meal solutions, complementing its existing consumer‑focused delivery model.

The transaction is expected to close later this year, subject to customary regulatory approvals and the satisfaction of closing conditions. Uber has indicated that the purchase will be financed with cash on hand, and that it does not anticipate any material impact on its earnings guidance.
